A lovely antique silver fronted gau with ornamental filigree work and turquoise inlay. There is some weathering from being worn and handled which is to be expected from a piece of this age. It would make a lovely container or shrine gau for sacred relics or precious items.
The copper back removes to allow for easy storing of relics. The gau includes a small image of His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama and two metal pendants engraved with Tibetan characters. The reverse is probably tied with an old fragment of sacred cord.
