Antique Tibetan Bullet Pouch - 19th C

£650.00

A rare antique ornamented Tibetan leather bullet pouch. The front has a heavy silver plaque that is inlaid with turquoise and coral and has additional silver buttons with the longevity motif. Above this there is a small silver eternal knot, one of the Eight Auspicious symbols of Buddhism. Next to this there appears to be an abstract thokcha fragment that was believed to have amuletic power. Bullets would have been inserted through the holes at the bottom of the pouch, with the tips sticking out. A fine piece that was clearly cherished.
