Tibetan & Himalayan Jewellery

We carry a small range of sacred jewellery for personal adornment and this includes traditional Tibetan gaus, amulets, pendants and rings. From time to time we will also offer new and antique ethnographic jewellery from Nepal, the Hilltribe regions, India and South East Asia.
A Tibetan gau is a unique type of amulet container that can be worn on the body and inside the gau sacred items can be kept. The contents may include a small statue, a clay Tsa Tsa, sacred medicine, a thread or fabric blessed by a revered lama, Dharma texts or mantras, relics and images of lamas and deities.
Traditionally one would ask an important Lama to bless the gau and its contents. This is then said to empower the gau to protect the wearer from obstacles and to bring a continuous rain of blessings.
The new jewellery items shown in our collection are crafted by hand by Tibetan and Nepalese artisans and the antique pieces are from a bygone age of Himalayan craftmanship. Each gau is capable of being opened and filled with precious items.
