A beautiful antique pillow shaped gau with ornamental silver filigree and mounted with numerous turquoise cabochons. The back removes to allow for the storage of relics etc. There is a suspension hole on the top and bottom to allow cord to pass through. This particular type of gau was very popular with Tibetan women in Lhasa in the 19th century. A very striking piece and a lovely example from this period.
