A well worn antique pillow shaped gau with ornamental silver filigree and mounted with numerous turquoise cabochons. It has also been inlaid with triangular shaped brass motifs in each of the four directions. The copper back removes to allow for the storage of relics etc. There is a suspension hole on the top and bottom to allow cord to pass through.
This particular type of gau was very popular with Tibetan women in Lhasa in the 19th century. A very striking piece and a lovely example from this period.

Condition: Mostly good with weathering and patina communsurate with age.
Material: Silver with turquoise and brass inlay and copper back.
