Antique Sino-Tibetan Utility Knife - 19th C

A nice looking antique Tibetan knife with bone handle and decorated silver sheath with shagreen (ray skin) inlay. The bone handle is decorated with dots and iron inlay. The end of the handle is finished with layers of iron, horn and copper. The sheath is also strengthened on the reverse by brass which really adds to the overall patina of this piece. The front of the sheath is decorated with a floral motif. It comes complete with the original leather strap so that it can be hung from a belt.

Origin: Collected in Tibet in the 1980s and part of the Stone Routes Collection.
