Antique Tibetan Silver Medicine Spoon - 19th C

£130.00

A hand beaten Tibetan silver spoon decorated with overlapping lines on the handle.

Spoons were typcially used for taking medicinal remedies and silver was considered to have special antiseptic properties. The silver itself may have been heirloomed within a family for many centuries before it was eventually used in the making of a spoon or other utensils. It means a spoon may once have started life as several pieces of silver jewellery.
