Another great deep orangey red Tibetan Takyab or pack animal rug. This piece was probably used on the lead animal of mule train. It is decorated with a Padma symbol or Lotus motif. A Buddhist Auspicious Symbol of perfect purity of body, speech and mind. These rugs were also believed to bless the animal at the lead of the train, so that all journeys were accomplished without obstacles. The overall condition of the rug is very good with minor weathering commensurate with age.
