Author: Keith Dowman
New edition. Translations of five fundamental Dzogchen texts with an illuminating introduction by the author. The book conveys the heart advice of one of the most beloved masters of Tibet, the itinerent yogi Shabkar, held to be an incarnation of Milarepa. Shabkar communicates the essence of Dzogchen teachings through songs of realization both poetic and poignant. Dzogchen practice brings us into direct communion with the most subtle nature of experience, the unity of samsara and nirvana as experienced within our own consciousness, bringing the meditator face to face with the nature of reality.
Along with Shabkar's songs, Dowman has translated four other seminal Dzogchen texts, including one by Patrul Rinpoche that is new to this revised edition - Extraordinary Reality of Sovereign Wisdom. The other texts are: Secret Instruction in a Garland of Vision by Padmasambhava; Flight of the Garuda by Shakbar Lama, Emptying the Depths of Hell revealed by Guru Chowong and the Wish-Granting Prayer of Kuntuzangpo revealed by Rikzin Godemchan.
