A wonderful painting in the Newari style that is unique to the Kathmandu Valley. This thangka was acquired from a European collection and was probably commissioned around 20 years ago. It displays Chakrasamvara in union with his consort and they are surrounded by their sacred assembly. As one of the principal yidams of the Kagyu lineage, he is most commonly depicted in his two armed form. Here he is shown in union with the red wisdom Dakini, Dorje Phagmo. Chakrasamvara or Korlo Demchog is often translated to mean Highest Bliss.
