Sandalwood is prized for its very warm, rich and woody aroma. The scent is also very relaxing and highly valued for meditation and ritual. It has been traded since ancient times and was transplanted from Indonesia to India where the best Sandalwood still grows today. It is used in virtually every tradition of incense making and also in the finest French perfumes. Baieido uses only the highest quality Indian Sandalwood in making this incense.
Baieido work hard to bring the past into the present. In Japanese it is called Onko Chishin and it is a very important concept in the artistic traditions of Japan. It originates with Confucius and translates: "If a man keeps cherishing his old knowledge, so as continually to be acquiring the new, he may be a teacher of others."
